Creating Hydrogen

There seems to an increasing demand for alternative fuels for our vehicles these days but it seems like the government is not ready to or are unwilling to do anything about it. With the prices of gas skyrocketing and the cost of oil is just around $90 - $120 dollars per barrel, we Americans need to find relief somehow. Spending our hard earned paychecks at the pump is not making life an easier as most Americans have other bills to pay as well.

Alternative Fuels

There is a few alternative fuels popping up all over the world, such as one called shale gas. Shale gas is a gas that is found underground and can be easily harvested but in an article I read stated that there may only be enough in America to power it's vehicles for 45 years. While that may seem like a milestone it really lacks in longevity and would be another government monopoly like oil has become. I feel that the government is just trying to control us and make all of the profits they can by only producing fuels they can make large amounts of money on.

One highly underestimated source of fuel is water. Yes, water! Through a process called electrolysis you can extract hydrogen from water, after all water is 2 parts hydrogen and 1 part water--H20. Water is everywhere and quite abundant, anyone could make there own hydrogen--it is actually quite simple.

Homemade Hydrogen

You will need a plastic container that you will fill with water and make hydrogen from. Then will need sodium hydroxide to add to the water to give it conductivity to increase the hydrogen production. You will also need a power source with graphite electrodes attached to the power source. When you put the electrodes into the water it is a good idea to keep them as far apart as possible. The hydrogen comes from the negative electrode and oxygen from the other.

The reason you use sodium hydroxide instead of salt it this: salt with chlorine, fluorine or any other dangerous negative ions will give off a poisonous gas, thus could be very bad. Capturing the gas is also a quite simple process that I won't get into but instead I encourage you to check out the links I embedded into this article, they contain all the information on this process.

It has been said that a car can burn hydrogen without making any modifications the way it is. Some source state that hydrogen alone is not enough to actually power the car. You could also add a very small fraction of the oxygen that is produced to give it more power. I would be careful with this however, too much of this mixture could result in an explosion. I have seen sites online that claim a can can be powered by water by producing the hydrogen it burns, however, I have not tested it yet.

One theory is that if you produce enough electricity and have the proper electrodes you could extract enough hydrogen from it. If you have a series of transformers and capacitors you would be able to produce enough power from the alternator, you could even install a generator for your car. The next thing you would need is something that can compress the gas into a container that would send a controlled mixture to the motor to be burned. You might have to play with the mixtures of hydrogen and oxygen to get it right.

Conspiriacy

Why should we always remain reliant on the government to come up with a better way of life for us. I believe that they really want to control everything we do so that we will trust them and listen to everything they say. The point of this article is to inspire America to put it's own future into the palm of it's hands and create the things we need most, not what someone else can make the most money on. In the end, it's the American citizens who will end up making the difference, simply because we have the power to do it but we just don't know it yet.
