How to build muscle with light weights
68Exercising with lighter weights
If you wish to start exercising and build muscle but all you have is lighter weights, it's not a problem. Rather than spend a fortune to buy new weights a person can simply make do with what is currently around the house.exercising
If you already have some weights but they are too light you can increase the reps and sets you do. For example: if you would really need a 50 pound weight to do bicep curls but only have a 30 pound weight you could start with 3 sets. The first set you would do 12 reps, the second, you would do 10, and the last, you would do eight. Over time you would get to the point were you would be lifting 3 sets of 12. You could either increase the reps and or sets or you would need some heavier weights. This method would last you quite a while.
Using that same weight, hold the weight in your hand and raise your arm above your head with your elbow facing to the front of your body and your palm facing towards your body. slowly bend your elbow moving your had with the weight in it towards your back, you can use your other hand to brace the weight slightly until you get the hang of it. This exorcize targets the triceps. You may want to start out with 2 set of 8 reps. You would be able to increase this over time and only when you have mastered doing at least 3 sets of 10 you could consider increasing weight.
Another over looked exorcise is pushups. While I was in the Air Force pushups was the one thing you seemed to get too much of. The Drill Instructors would make us do them almost all day long every day. They do that because it builds nice upper body strength and you are using your own weight to do it. Of course, thinking back on it, I think those instructors just liked seeing us squirm and flop around on the ground like a fish out of water because they mad us push until we couldn't push anymore. It felt like the ground was gonna cave in.
One can build upper body strength quite fast doing pushups every day. Before I joined the Air Force I was only able to max out at like 6 or 7 pushups and in a matter of 2 or 3 weeks I was able to do 50 in under a minute. I did pushups twice a day doing as many as I could before I dropped and could not do any more. This forces your body to build strength faster. They call it extreme training in the military. Only when your body is pushed to its limits will it be able to improve itself. It some how knows that is has to devote more energy to those certain areas because it sees a need for improvement. Our bodies have such a way to build up tolerances to everything we do.
Jogging is another great exorcise and also is one of the greatest ways to burn fat while boosting your metabolism. Walking does not have nearly the effect as jogging because while walking you don't burn as much calories because it does not increase your heart rate. Increasing your heart rate speeds up that rate in which our bodies burn calories also increasing the metabolism.
Jogging a few blocks to a mile a day is quite a good start. It will really help you shed some unwanted pounds in a matter of weeks. I lost 20 pounds in 2 weeks jogging a mile a day. I keep a pretty decent pace but I didn't over exert myself, I just kept my heart rate up to a comfortable rate.
Only thing to keep in mind is to not try to over do it your first time is you have not exorcised in a long time, whether you are jogging or lifting weights your first couple times you should not do too much. It does not take long for your body to adapt. Just remember to be safe and stay hydrated. Your body needs plenty of liquids.
